My duties working at Troy Mine are:

  • Powder Crew: Daily equipment checks, inventory of caps, booster, slurry. Scaling and checking for loose rock above me. Once at heading i start loading the face with caps and boosters, put the D cord in and fill with slurry and once the area is safe i set off the round.Loaded face and bench rounds using same technique.
  • Jumbo Drill: I would hook into the power box and water, position the machine and would drill 16' deep holes.
  • Bolter: I would secure the back of the face using 8 to 16' Swellex Bolts in a 5x5 or 3x3 spacing, depending on ground conditions. After i would secure all loose rock and bolt 4x8' screens to hold rocks from falling.
  • Bench drill: I would mark out holes every 4', then drill holes straight down to desired depth.
  • Assisted with Shot Creating
  • Equipment ran: Powder buggies, JLG, Tella Handlers, Wheel Loaders, Haul Trucks, Roof Bolters, Jumbo Drill, Bench Drills, Tractors, Tire trucks, Scissor Lifts
