  • Built a subsidiary within the parent organization to offer IT services to large physician practices throughout the state.

  • Encore Health Resources was formed by the former owners of Healthlink Consulting, which was sold to IBM in 2005.
  • In 2009, Ivo Nelson and Dana Sellers wanted to bring back a consulting company that would provide world-class industry experts to the healthcare market.
  • Experts who have specialized knowledge of the industry's major clinical and business applications, and thus Encore was formed.
  • Encore assists healthcare organizations in planning, implementing, and adopting the technologies required to successfully plan for and respond to increased reimbursement and quality changes.
  • With Encore, I led the accelerated vendor selection processes for MD Anderson, Methodist and Southcoast.
  • This process included comparing current systems, processes/workflows, functionality and costs to move to an Epic or Cerner system, and to see if there were benefits in moving systems to a more consolidated platform.
  • Developed implementation planning strategies that included working with vendors on contracts negotiations, costs, staffing, and timelines for new system implementations.

  • OSU Medical Center is a 400+ bed academic hospital that serves as a teaching hospital for OSU Center for Health Sciences.
  • The hospital has 2,000 employees and approximately 200 volunteers.
  • OSU Center for Health Sciences is the Medical School and Practice Plan, which also includes Research and Telemedicine.
  • In 2007 the CIO position for OSU Healthcare was created to emphasize the importance of healthcare IT with OSU and the state, and to become a leader within the state in this area.
  • The position separated the traditional OSU university CIO role in Stillwater and healthcare responsibilities.
  • I collaborated with the CIO in Stillwater to utilize university resources fully, while I converted OSU Healthcare into a self-sustaining department.
  • By creating this separation, I was able to immediately improve communications throughout the organization by implementing SLA's across all healthcare departments.
  • Transitioned 50+ systems away from Ardent Health, creating entirely new organization, infrastructure, policies/procedures, etc.
  • for OSU Medical Center.
  • Improved patient quality of care, care coordination and revenues by implementing new Electronic Health Record systems for both ambulatory and inpatient.

  • This grant allowed me to work with four area hospitals to select and implemented EMR systems at each of the four hospitals.
  • Also after selecting each hospitals EMR, tied them back to OSU through a Health Information Exchange (HIE) as pilot project for now ARRA/Meaningful Use.
  • Earned the Beacon Grant Award, collaborating with over 700 state entities.
  • Then work to bring those 700 organizations together to create the Greater Tulsa Health Access Network (GTHAN) effort, which was 1 of 15 communities selected in the U.S.
  • Developed a state wide partnership with HMA, SSM and OSU to perform Telestroke.
  • Developed relationships in rural Oklahoma with CEOs and physicians in hospitals and clinics to grow/expand technology throughout the state.

  • Healthlink Consulting was the premier healthcare IT consulting company in the world prior to being acquired in 2005 by IBM.
  • The acquisition allowed Healthlink the opportunity to expand into additional sectors outside traditional provider consulting, and reach into oil and gas/energy, government and payer sectors.
  • Participated in executive leadership over both EPIC implementation efforts at Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente over several (50+) successful hospital implementations, which also included overseeing with these organizations, IT restructures, governance, strategy, etc., while managing over 250 consultants around the world.
  • Developed BJC, OhioHealth and Our Lady of the Lake IT Strategic Plans.
  • Led system selection activities with Covenant Health and St.
  • Joseph's on whether Cerner or McKesson systems would better for their organizations strategies for moving best of breed.

  • I was brought to INTEGRIS to bridge the communication gap between Finance/Accounting & IT.
  • I reported to the CIO, with dotted line reporting the IDN CFO.
  • During my time with INTEGRIS, the CIO wanted me to learn more about IT, so in 2003, gave me responsibilities for implementing Cerner Millennium at in several rural hospitals, which is when I decided healthcare IT was my future.
  • Managed several rural hospital IT departments, which consisted of 40+ million annually operating budget and $16+ million annually capital budgets (190+ FTE's).
  • Saved the organization over 2 million dollars annually through workflow analysis and process improvement activities.
