Doctrinal
Position
I
believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. Therefore,
I have a high view of Scripture, and I am convinced that the church should
operate by biblically based principles. I fully embrace the doctrinal teachings
reflected in the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message with no reservations.

Leadership
Style
First, and foremost I believe that Jesus is the Head of
the Church. We must depend upon Him to provide us with vision and guidance. I
am convinced that my role as the leader begins in the
pulpit, but must also manifest itself in the example that I set before the people
whom I pastor. My leadership approach is one that calls for feedback from other
leaders and is more conducive to a team setting. I am not a dictator or
authoritarian leader. I believe that we go much farther when we go together. I
believe in setting goals and developing ministry plans for committees and
teams. Ā This will keep us more organized
and also help us become better stewards of the resources and tasks that the
Lord has entrusted to us.

Ministry
Style
It is my belief that the mandate for all believers is to
fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8). We must do
that through personal evangelism, deliberate discipleship, church outreach, Ā and intentional mission strategy. My first
responsibility is to prayerfully teach the Word of God (Acts 6:4).Ā Pastoral responsibility also includes equipping believers
to do the work of the ministry (Eph. 4:11-12). The pastor must also lead the way in
evangelism (2 Tim. 4:5). Furthermore, I believe that the pastor is to be a
servant of the church displaying the compassion of our Lord to the people under
his care.

Salvation
and Calling
Like
many, I had an emotional experience in church when I was 8 years old. I "joined"
a church and was dunked in a baptistery, but I was not truly saved. I truly
gave my life to Christ and was saved after a revival service when I was 17
while attending Elva Baptist Church in Marshall County. God called me to
serve in the gospel ministry three years later while I was serving as youth
director at Iuka Baptist Church. I started out in youth ministry,
but even then I knew that God had placed upon my heart the calling to shepherd
His church. Since
then, I have had the privilege to be involved in preaching ministry for over 16
years and serve in pastoral ministry for over 14 years.
