During my early years in the work field, a majority of my experience has been in hospitality and customer service. The experience I gained has helped me be more preceptive and understanding.
In a related field, I have followed a relative of mine who is a Veterinarian around at an animal clinic in Delphos. There I assisted in feeding animals, nurturing the animals, cleaning cages, walking dogs, helping to organize papers, and anywhere else I was needed.
After I graduated from Elmhurst High School, I accepted an internship at the Northeastern Veterinary Hospital. There I worked alongside different Veterinarians, learning from them and standing in during appointments and treatments. I also got to spend one on one time with injured animals, and learning how to properly care for them. I was able to build up my skills on vocabulary and understanding of terminology used around the hospital as well. I did a lot of cleaning, and organization, but I feel like I learned a lot from the time I spent there.
My most taken experience was the important role an assistant, or Veterinarian play when it comes to pet owners. The trust they show towards us when handing over their pets for overnight treatments, or even for a quick check up makes me want to show as much compassion and care for them and their animals.
I stood in an appointment where a Vet Tech had just given an elderly woman's pug a euthanasia medication. The woman saw me standing quietly in the corner of the room, and began to tell me how much this pug meant to her, and how much she was going to miss him. She explained to me how he was her emotional support pet, and how much she wished he could stay with her a little longer. She asked for a hug, and thanked me for my support just before I walked out of the room to give her alone time with her pet.
The experience of working with animals in the past has helped me to discover the path I want to take in life, which is to work closely with animals, or to work in the same environment. I hope to continue to learn and build from my past experiences to reach this goal.
During the days I am not working, I volunteer at local church. I assist taking care of the Pastors children, and helping prepare and promote for big, upcoming events. During events away from the city, the church sends volunteers to help veterans in need. My last trip was to the Veteran Hospital in New York City. I spent my time there helping repair and clean up a garden for the Veterans to be able to sit outside and relax so they were not stuck inside all day. When we were done, we got to sit down and listen to amazing stories of their past and give them the company they much deserved.
I hope this summary of myself has given you an insight on who I am, and why I would be a good fit to your team. I would like to quickly state that all of my current experiences and information all reside in Indiana, but I am in the process of moving to Chicago, IL and will no longer be living in Indiana after the move is complete. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. Thank you.
