Fahimeh Khezr Heidari was born in Iran/Qazvin. After finishing her primary education she started Persian literature at the University of Tehran and soon after went to the Media Studies and Research Center to earn a media-related degree.
She started her career in 1997 with Zanan magazine, which was the only Persian women's magazine in the country and ceased publication in 2008.
At the same time, Fahimeh also started to work with Salam newspaper, the first reformist daily published following the Islamic revolution in Iran. She then continued her journalistic career by working with several newspapers, from Hayete No, Shargh, and Etemad to Farhang Ashti, Etemad Melli, and many others.
In 2009/1388, not long after Iran's controversial presidential election, like many of her fellow journalists, she was forced to leave the country.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Farda
In 2010, she was hired by Radio Free Europe, on the Persian service in Prague, Czech Republic.
During her early years as a broadcast journalist, she started the weekly Society magazine, which she still keeps bringing it on air, every Monday.
She was the very first female journalist who went in front of the camera to start Radio Farda's TV. She was also one of the main anchors and producers of Radio Farda's morning show “Breakfast with the news”.
During her years in RFERL, Fahimeh successfully and swiftly has changed from a print journalist to a Radio/TV broadcaster who can effortlessly manage live shows, talks, interviews, debates, breaking news, special coverages and so on in both TV and radio formats.
Fahimeh has also received the prestigious award of RFERL's best piece of work in the social field for her documentary program on “Shinabad's students” in Iran.
Voice of America
In June 2015, After almost 6 years of working for RFERL in Prague, Fahimeh has resigned her job in RFERL and moved to the U.S. to accept their job offer and join Voice of America's Persian service. She immediately continued her career as a TV host and presenter in there.
She also has been asked to restart and anchor the superb debate show “Ofogh” for VOA and could manage to inject fresh blood into it.
She was the main news anchor of all those hectic news houres and live shows during her short time in VOA.
Return to Radio Farda
In 2016, Fahimeh started a new era with RFERL, this time as a freelancer. At this period, She began to produce her remarkable radio series “Taboo” which has streamed for roughly 3 years and was an absolute success. Taboo has addressed numerous social, political, ethical, cultural, racial, and ethnic or gender-based taboos in Iran society in more than 130 radio debates.
She also kept making her Society magazine for Radio Farda all these years.
Radio Iran International
In 2020, Fahimeh has joined Iran International Radio and start a 54 min weekly show named “Nimeh por, nimeh khali”. The program is an influential social/psychological platform in which she tries to give voice to ordinary people, minorities, and people with mental health issues.
