My name is Cristina Garcia-Corrales and I am a Sophomore at Berry College. I am currently majoring in Spanish and Psychology, and I hope to be able to continuously further my knowledge in these fields in the future. I have always had a passion for helping people whether it be my friend or volunteering at different location to help make an impact. I love to travel and experience new cultures, and I have had the privilege to apart of two amazing cultures that make me who I am today. I am very hardworking when it comes to
I was Selected to participate in the Giving Point's Social Innovators Academy, an entrepreneurial training program for high school students. Throughout this experience, I Organized two drives for Wellspring Living, a non-profit organization in Atlanta, Georgia that provides domestic sex trafficking victims and those at risk with specialized recovery services through three residential programs and two community-based programs. Throughout the year I collected more than 350 items of clothing and around 30 pairs of shoes. I was able to make more people aware of this cause by making a PowerPoint slide presentation for the entire school and by recruiting people to make awareness posters. This social impact project was an enriching experience that allowed me to give back to the community.
- In 2019, traveled to Guatemala to an orphanage called “El Amor de Patricia.” Since I am bilingual, I was able to interact with the children, and help them with their homework and daily care. During my time here, I Helped with The Bunk Bed Project® which provides beds for families in need in a town called Yalú. All of the volunteers brought the beds, which are made in Guatemala, to the homes of identified families in need and removed what they were using as beds, such as twigs, cinder blocks, and replaced them with new bunk beds.

I had never really been much of a person that enjoyed reading or writing, but ever since the pandemic hit, I knew that I wanted to further my knowledge on what different books can offer. I specifically enjoy reading books that have exceeded my knowledge on the different aspects of psychology. I am also starting to read books in Spanish to help me become even more fluent with the Language.
-I enjoy writing because it gives me a sense of relief when I am able to showcase what I am passionate about or feeling in a journal. I essentially write to reflect on my experiences in different situations, and it gives me the opportunity grow and reflect on different experiences in my life that find their ways to shape me.
I have played soccer since I was 6 years old, and it has come to be such a big part of who I am today. I have played club soccer and varsity soccer throughout my life so far, and I am looking forward to play intramural soccer in the fall. My entire family is shaped and surrounded by soccer, and it is a a hobby of mine that I hope to continue to follow for as long as I can
