Performs comprehensive health histories, pre and post procedureal physical examinations and obtains medically informed cosents related to IR procedures; provides post procedure care, including hospital orders, groin and/or wound assessment, inpatient management (catheter care, management of percutaneous drains, vascular accesses), removal of drains/catheters, chest tubes, suture removal. Performs in-patient hospital consults, direct admissions and collaborates with other consulting physicians; ordering and interpreting pertinent diagnostic studies. Performs hospital rounds on inpatients, writing discharge plans/summary and peri-procedureal notes. Performs bedside image guided procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, thyroid biopsies. Assists in the coordination of scheduling of patient for interventional procedure, biopsies and associated imagining. Responsible for a case load of 130+ acute and chronic hemodialysis patients in four different out-patient hemodialysis clinics.
