PhotographerJul 2010 - Current Wendy McCardle Photography I
currently work as a freelance photographer with several Philadelphia-based
music blogs for which I photograph local and international
artists within our city's vibrant music scene.
I have also contributed to Radius Magazine, a print publication
distributed throughout Bucks, Mercer and Huntington Counties. Assignments for Radius included articles on
local cuisine, boutique clothing shops and portraits of emerging artisans and
entrepreneurs. Each issue also featured
an “Around Town” section, for which I would shoot candid portraits of locals
enjoying events and nightlife in town.
My work has also appeared in The Washington Post, 93.3 WMMR and WXPN's The Key.
Studio ManagerApr 2009 - Jul 2010 Steve McCurry Studios, LLC Originally
hired to assist in digital asset management, my responsibilities with McCurry
Studios included scanning transparencies, retouching, embedding custom metadata
for a searchable archive and selecting images for online galleries. I was soon promoted to manager of Mr. McCurry's
studio in Long Island City, NY where I supervised a staff of 4 to 5 employees,
maintained all studio correspondence, negotiated image usage with Mr. McCurry's representatives at Magnum Photos and assisted in planning for international
exhibitions and publications.
Marketing AssistantJan 2007 - Feb 2009 Penn Valley Constructors, Inc. Prior
to my hiring, Penn Valley's marketing was performed solely during the spare
time of the company's officers. I
single-handedly gave their marketing department a makeover with all new
photography, project sheets showcasing completed construction, advertisements
for local newspapers and a quarterly newsletter. I also performed the painstaking but
much-enjoyable task of retouching all photography; i.e., removing sporadically
placed cars and traffic cones, as well as digitally installing elements of the construction
that were not yet completed in time for photographing.
