Time and Motion Survey
I conducted a time and motion survey to compare the Request for Evidence (RFE) procedures used by the Contractor in the GUI system with the Administrative Support Team (AST) who is currently using the ECHO system to evaluate the validity of adding a new computer program to augment the Contractors process.
The survey focused on the individual mechanics of the clerk as he/she performs the task being accomplished and a cost analysis of the perceived manpower to support the new process now and in the future.
No decision has been rendered yet; although the time element has been established, the cost element is currently under review.
Space and Area Survey
I conducted a space survey to determine the file room storage area capacity for five rooms that are used to hold received files of various thicknesses ranging from folder ½ an inch to five feet deep depending on the process.
The facility's storage capability is approximately one million files depending on the file size which is determined by the ongoing process.
The goal of the study was to ascertain the file room capacity to project storage space in order to facilitate large movement and storage of files in and out of the facility to support the customer's needs and complete the Service Centers' mission.
