I have a deep history of taking care of individuals needing in home care from a nurse aid and/or medication aide. I was actually doing this long before I was even a CNA/CMA because though who I was caring for were family members. It was because of them that I decided to become a licensed CNA and almost immediately after a CMA. Along with both of those certifications, I also have my BLS certification for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED). I have taken care of both of my Grandparents until each one of them passed away. I also have a 13 year old son that has mental health issues and he has actually been to Immanuel eighteen separate times in the emergency room for behavior health evaluations. I manage all of his medications, daily routine charts and therapy sessions. With all of my experience caring for my family members, and my actual certification, I know feel that I have all the skills needed as a CNA, such as grooming/bathing, toileting, dressing, assisting with feeding, monitoring vital signs, providing transportation as needed, ROM exercises, use of hoyer lifts, assist with bathing, and any other duties required of me from my CNA license. I am also able to meet all the requirements of my CMA license. I am able to administer medication in a timely manner as needed by the residents in all ways necessary. I can multitask when doing my med pass and answer pages, filling both rolls as a CNA and CMA at the same time. In all honesty, I believe you always wear both hats when doing this job. I have done a little bit of everything. I have filled in for the activity director and done activities with residents, I have helped on trips out of the facility, assisted squad on calls for employees and residents when they have had medical emergencies at the facility. My goal is to make a difference in their lives. To make sure that they are well cared for, they have a good and fair quality of living, are safe and happy. It doesn't matter if they are in a Senior Living Facility, or the hospital, they deserve to be treated the same. I want to do my very best to make a positive difference in their lives. I truly believe this is my purpose.
