Five year member of both varsity tennis and squash teams. Captain in 2019-2020. Selected as a Peer Leader at this K-12 all boys school.
Will enroll in Fall 2020 and will be a member of the varsity squash team.
I first picked up a squash racquet when I was nine and have loved the sport from day one. I started playing competitively while my family was living in England at age 10. In the United States, my highest age group ranking was #6 nationally in the U17s. My highest rating-based ranking was #19 for all boys in the US. In 2018, I won US Squash's William T. Ketcham Jr. Award, which is given annually to one player in each division who "has shown extraordinary commitment to the sport while significantly improving their game." I was also recognized with the US Squash Scholar Athlete Award during each of my years in high school. Other Extracurricular Activities , In addition to my academic and athletic activities, I have an interest in traveling, photography, and documentary films. I have been babysitting since I was thirteen and have looked after two boys (starting from ages 6 and 8 years old) with whom I play soccer and basketball, and also take to swim and their various practices. I have had my driver's license for 2+ years and have a perfect driving record.
Academics / School Activities , I am a recent graduate of the Collegiate School in New York City, and I will continue my studies at Williams College, in Williamstown, MA this fall. I am a five year varsity athlete - in both tennis and squash - and I will play for my college squash team next year. Outside the classroom, I have been a writer for Collegiate School's newspaper, The Journal, for the last three years as well as a contributor to Prufrock (Collegiate School's literary magazine), and a member of the One Love and Feminist clubs. I served as a Peer Leader during my senior year and was responsible for advising 10th graders and accompany them on team building field trips as well. Athletics, , I was invited to play on Collegiate's squash team while I was in seventh grade and have competed for my school in matches (including the High School National Championship competition) each year since then. I have played #1 on the team for the last four years and have served as a co-captain for the last two years. I have also been fortunate to play in a number of international competitions, with my best finish a 7th place (from a draw of 64) in the 2016 Pioneer Open in Cologne, Germany (BU15). I also competed in the Hong Kong Junior Open in the summer of 2019. I have worked as a volunteer squash coach and tutor at two urban squash programs during high school - Street Squash in Harlem, New York and Squash Urbano in Cartagena, Colombia. With both programs, I have worked closely with kids ranging in age from 9 to 16 years old. Away from squash, I have played on Collegiate School's varsity tennis team for the past five years. As a freshman, I played second doubles and was named All-Ivy second team. I have played first doubles for the last two seasons and have enjoyed being a co-captain of the team. I also enjoy soccer and basketball.
