As a server you are responsible for many tasks, when it comes to taking orders then to delivering food and most importantly making sure money is handled correctly.
Over the past two years that I have worked for Cooks, I have accomplished many personal growths and has helped me to be more outgoing.
Being a sever also can teach you to be flexible when it comes to working.
Bartending can be very complicated in a restaurant and not just a bar. When bartending in a restaurant as popular as they are, you have to be concerned about your tables and bar rail, along with the phone, to go orders, and most importantly the servers alcoholic drinks. It can be a bit much to manage but once you get it down its great practice and experience.
Also communication is key in a restaurant industry, between all staff but most importantly the kitchen and the front servers and bartenders. For all operations to run smoothly everybody has to be on the same page.
I was with gabes for many years and it was a pleasure.
For the first couple years I was with them I started out just regular pay a few hours a week, not long after I started working 50 plus weeks and slowly increasing my pay.
I met so many new people through the business, also learning all what it takes to be put into making the perfect pizza.
We are not only known for pizzas, so multitasking was always a thing you had to be willing to do.
Years later after starting I excepted a manager position in 2017-2018.
So much more than what you think goes into being a manager, another reason why multitasking seems to be pretty easy for me.
The amount of time spent on the store off clock making sure your store is run right, it can be overwhelming at times but that was the most I felt I grew over the work force.
Many tasks had to be accomplished that I didn't use to think went into it, for example supplying the product from the grocery store that cant be ordered, as well as ordering the food from the other company's.
Dealing first hand with our food vendors ordering from Delco, Economy, and potato supply.
Being in charge of all money until gets to the owner and keeping all of it straight can be difficult.
As well as going to the bank and getting change for the store.
You also have to be charge of the schedule which i can tell you is some food industry managers worst nightmare.
People wanting all theses different times off, everybody having different schedules.
So much goes into being a manager, but it was a good learning experience.
