January of 2011
Attended several workshops on the question of vocation with the Collegeville Institue over the past 10 years.
The chief accomplishments of my ministry has been one of creating opportunities for engagement:
Leading a local congregation to think deeply and prayerfully about what it means to be fully open and embracing of a theology of inclusion that resulted in our congregation voting in 2004 to become a congregation that joyful and unequivocally accepts and affirms our LGBTQ brothers and sisters
This also meant creating a theologian in residence program where such prominent theologians as Elaine Pagels, Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan preached and led seminars in our congregation, in addition to hosting writers like Marilynne Robinson and important opinion makers like Leonard Pitts and Sister Helen Prejean
Plymouth also made a long term commitment to being a "downtown" ministering congregation through making a long terms commitment to providing pre school education for low income children. Plymouth's Head Start program hosted President Barak Obama in January 2015 who came to the school to showcase the way our nation can combat poverty.
Plymouth church raised$3.3 million in a capital campaign that resulted in a new building for Christian Education along with a long term commitment to pre school education for low income families
Built a relationship with the Church of South India, and took a delegation to adults to India to visit schools, orphanages, mission sites
Encouraged and supported young adults to think about their vocation as a calling into the ministry, by securing scholarships, mentoring relationships
