Additional Information
  • Extracurricular Activities and Interests Some of my most memorable experiences have been those times spent in foreign countries. I have had the opportunity to participate in life-changing outreach trips to Mexico, Nepal, and India. I have wonderful memories of time spent in the beautiful country of New Zealand, and I have most recently spent a considerable amount of time in Burkina Faso in West Africa. This latter trip gave me an incredible opportunity to contribute towards initiating a clinical trial looking to decrease malaria incidence in rural African villages. All of these trips have been powerful experiences that have introduced me to rich new cultures, instilled compassion in me for those in need, and above all I met wonderful people. During my studies at CSU, I discovered that I enjoy teaching - I found myself often helping to explain concepts to my classmates who would come to me with questions. I was also asked to help grade exams for a microbial genetics course and the next semester was asked to tutor students for a physiology class. Growing up in Colorado, my favorite activities are those spent in the great outdoors. My love for the mountains will never diminish, and I can often be found hiking, camping, rock climbing, and snowboarding. Classical music is very dear to me and I have enjoyed playing the violin since the age of 6. I am always excited to spend time with friends as well as meet new people - preferably over a refreshing Colorado beer.
