I've lived in Port Angeles with my wife Nancy since October 2016. We purchased a house between Sequim & Port Angeles (a bit closer to Port Angeles). We're retired but have found that our Social Security income is not enough and I will be going back to work.
Working for an "upscale" dispensary is very important to me and I believe that I will be an asset as a knowledgeable sales technician with a special advantage when working with (but not limited to) the "over 50" generation. There is a real need to connect with that demographic, most obviously because they usually have time to enjoy the product and can also afford to purchase it.

In 1972 I owned a Hang Glider sales & flight training business called OPEN SKY GLIDER SALES.
Finally in 1985 I had the cash to pay for Private Pilot lessons. I told my instructor that I was going to work hard and focus on my training. I also mentioned that I planned on passing my flight test and having my pilots license in 2 months. He said if I had it within 14 - 16 months it would be more realistic. I guess I set some records in the central U.S., I was a licensed pilot in just 55 days!
This seems like an appropriate time to mention that I'm sure I wouldn't have even attempted many of the things I've been so fortunate to excel at if I didn't quit drinking. I haven't had a drink (of alcohol) since Feb. 1978. If I'm hired, that's one employer/employee problem that won't come between us . . . . . for what it's worth.
I scanned original B & W photographs (mostly from the late 1800's - the early 1900's), then digitally restored the image. Next I created an enlarged print that I mounted & framed for the client.
Frequent customers were bankers, medical offices and law firms but the majority of my clients were "word of mouth" recommendations from local residents.
Created award winning logos, letterheads, business cards and nationally recognized signage. My work has been published in almost a dozen issues of SIGNS OF THE TIMES magazine and included in two hard covered coffee table books that sold for $50.00 each.
SIGNS OF THE TIMES held a yearly sign competition that allowed sign shops from coast to coast to enter their very best work for the year. There were several categories of signs and I was fortunate to take 1st place in many of them.
I hired and trained employees.
I worked with city planning officers, architects, a variety of business owners. I was paid to conduct workshops on advanced glass techniques such as gold leaf & glue chipping (even was asked to go to Winnipeg, Canada for one of them).
So I've trained beginners and taught experienced craftsmen to further their trade & abilities.
I'd be happy to provide photos/magazines of some of my award winning work if you'd like. One year Walt Disney Studios sign shop competed and I was fortunate to finish first place ahead of them in that years contest!
First I completed a 4 year apprenticeship in the local carpenter's union, then went on to become a contractor/custom home builder. Again, I hired & trained employees. I worked with suppliers, bankers and directly with the homeowner.
I also traveled to Boise, ID and worked as a finish carpenter/contractor from 1976 - 1978.
I wanted an online training course that offered focused and specific information for individuals interested in entering the cannabis industry as a Dispensary Technician. The price for the course was $200.00 and in order to receive a certificate of completion a 50 question test had to be passed with a minimum score of at least 80%. The test can be taken twice for free (additional testing would cost more). If you have to take it again, they won't disclose which questions you got wrong on the previous attempt, in order to maintain the integrity of the test. I passed it the first time I took it with a score of 94%!
This course is extremely useful for anyone who wants to be employed as a Dispensary Technician (budtender). Even though it is focused on one part of the industry, DIRECT SALES to the public, it covers all aspects of the position. From the complex plant itself to Customer Service, Cannabis Flower, Edibles, Hash & Concentrates, Extracts, Sublinguals, Transdermals and Topicals.
I am very pleased that I invested the money. I've been using the products for over 4 decades but have discovered how little I really knew about them, how they're made and what to avoid.
There is no doubt that what I now have to offer as a Dispensary Technician/Cannabis Consultant will result in better customer service, customer loyalty and of course increased sales.
Trichome Institute's CP&ST certification.
Please see attached copy of my certification, dated 12/10/19.
