I was born in Ethiopia In a small town called Dire Dawa. At the age of nine years old I was giving the chance to come to America with my family for a better life and education. Blessed with hard working parents and getting the chance to live understand what struggle meant made me to become as strong as my parents. In love with sports most importantly soccer I was able to play for my high school and a club for Alexandria Soccer Association. In 2012 a coach seen me play and gave me a chance to play for his traveling team called ESFNA (Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America) and got the chance to go to Maryland, California, Florida , Texas and in 2018 Canada (Toronto). I love to draw as my father became the first person to make me fall in love with Art as I excel in my drawing skills. There isn't a thing in this world I don't care for as everything here is meant to be.
Scramble was a place where kids can felt like they are in heaven. Some days we see more than a hundred kids walking through the front door ages from 2 weeks born unto 13 years old, That meant us staffs had to be on our toes and focused at all times. As a manager I was responsible for all my staffs, kids and customer services. All my staffs and I were responsible to sanitize all equipment for kids and parents before we opened and after we close meaning we had to be 30-20 min early to get ready and close. We also sold food and drinks and book and with the kills I already obtained from previous works I was able to work as sales associate/ cashier. I was also chosen to run a camp site that gave me a chance to educate and create crafts with a group of kids making it fun by creating new activities everyday. It was a pleasure working at Scramble.
As a Group leader I was to be creative and responsible for kids and equipments that we provide for kids. We worked with elementary schools as after school program for kids and we was to arrive 30 mins early to prepare different groups of activities for kids to rotate around and keep them engaged and excited. Creating a weekly planned out schedule and day activities was our responsibility. creating crafts, reading and exercise like playing soccer to running around in the gym and playground as we look after them and making sure no kid gets hurt. As safety plays a big roll working with kids we was to make sure we knew every kids parents and making sure to ask for IDs and having them fill out sign out sheet with name address and phone number no matter how long you have known the parent. Sanitizing every equipments before we close was also a big responsibility.
Already a big soccer fan and having the chance to play for my school and a Club gave me the ability to understand the game of soccer, At soccer stars I was able to coach a group of kids ages from 4 years unto 14 year old. It was my duty to carry all soccer equipments in my car at all times and checking my email everyday for my next day location for parents to drop off their kids and get the chance to watch them train.
Working for the best coffee store in America was one of the coolest jobs I have had. Getting to learn creating new drinks to creating my own drinks and satisfying every customer that walks to the door was the best feeling. We had to arrive 30 min early to prepare and clean and open. Knowing some people don't always have the best morning I had to make sure they walked out happy. I got the chance to work both up front at cashier and as a barista and on some days I was responsible for truck orders and making sure items are placed and labeled in the right areas for the next day.
