Choosing to be a stay at home mother was a career choice that I made happily and with ease. I view my work as a stay at home mother as highly important. It requires skills and talents that are difficult to name. However, it has taught me about patience, communication, love, positive parenting, commitment, and more. I created and implemented enriching activities to aid in my children's cognitive, social, and emotional development. Their well-being has been and continues to be my priority.
During my time as a stay at home mother:
*I created and facilitated a weekly neighborhood toddler group that included age appropriate academic, creative, movement inspired, and social skill building components
*Founded and led a group of mothers called, Mamas Giving Back, where we did charity work to help those in need
*Currently lead a weekly neighborhood pod for continued social emotional support for my children and the other neighborhood children during school closure and modified school schedules.
*I have published two books and continue to pursue a passion for writing
Playground Supervisor: Ensure the safety of elementary aged students, provide nurturing guidance during recess and lunch, address social skills when students were navigating difficult peer interactions, provide behavior management and modification based on student needs, create enriching outdoor activities for students kinder through 5th grade, collaborate and work closely with other school personnel and teachers.
PE Teacher's Aide: work under the supervision of the lead PE Teacher, provide instructions to class, uphold PE standards, utilize effective classroom management and behavior modification strategies, collaborate and communicate effectively with teachers and school personnel
Preschool Paraprofessional / One on One aide: Work under the supervision of the lead preschool teacher in a Reverse Mainstream Preschool Program, ensure students safety, create and implement differentiated activities for children based on emotional needs, medical conditions, etc, collect data for individualized student goals and IEPs, utilize effective classroom management and behavior modification skills
After School Enrichment Instructor: Create and implement my own curriculum for an after school enrichment program to address age appropriate social emotional development
Paraprofessional Substitute: currently still able to substitute, provide services in classrooms as neded by school district
I had two roles: both roles required I work with clients age 6-18 years old, collaborate with other service providers, create and implement safety plans, conduct assessments, create behavior plans, participate in IEP meetings, and provide sound therapeutic services for the client and their family
In Home Crisis Stabilization:
short term therapeutic services to address client's transition from or to decrease the need for a higher level of care, conducted safety assessments and implemented safety plans, facilitated family sessions around clients needs and safety concerns
Therapeutic Behavioral Services:
Conduct and write assessments based on presenting situation, create and implement behavior plans and effective strategies for decreasing maladaptive patterns of behaving, collaborate with family members, school personnel, community based services, and other agencies to create and implement strategies that promoted client success
