Run the store in the absence of the manager. I was usually the closing manager. Closing shift entailed making sure that the cashier was getting their tasks done, help with checking out customers when there is a rush, greet each customer and see if they need help, stock rolltainers and u-boats of product, count tills, sweep floor, enter numbers into the computer and set the alarm and lock up.
I would get new chemicals and rags each morning, and any other supplies that I would need for the day. After getting my work orders for the day, head out to the customers homes and clean them.
I was responsible for making sure that I was at the homes in a timely manner, following the directions in the order on how to get into the home, i.e. garage code, key, or meet.
Writing down the time I get there and the time I leave.
Taking the amount of time designated in the work order I clean the rooms listed, scrubbing baseboards, doors, fingerprints, toilets, tubs, showers, floors, counters, mirrors, picture frames, microwaves and other appliances, and any furniture.
Also vacuuming the upholstered furniture, knocking down any cobwebs and dusting ceiling fans, changing sheets and making the beds.
Other responsibilities are making sure that I leave the customers home sparkling so that they will continue to use our company and request me to be their permanent service provider, making sure all lights are off when I leave and that the way I came in is closed and locked.
I was responsible for opening or closing the store. Opening entailed doing any cycle counts and doing the store order. Going to the bank to get change or any deposit slips, taking out the trash and walking the store and making sure it looked presentable and that every thing was done the previous evening. Closing entailed doing recovery of half the store while the cashier did the other half. Making sure there were no boxes or uboats left on the floor. Running the push sweeper thru the aisles, and making sure the bathrooms were cleaned. Also did damages for the day in the pdt, bagging them up to wait for DM approval, and loaded any trash onto empty uboats. Count the bank deposit and input the numbers into the computer, and take the deposit to the bank overnight box. Counted the tills, and the safe no matter which shift. Also printed off and went over the truck manifest every week assigning each stocker to multiple sections for the two days following the truck to be able to get it out in 48 hours. I also would note each day which departments needed to be worked and I would work on stocking those during my shift. I was in charge of making sure the most recent plan-o-grams where printed, put on each aisle and reset/followed. The last five and a half months I was the acting store manager which entailed a few more things than my normal responsibilities. I was in charge of scheduling, reading emails and following thru on any directives, reading the planner and setting all end caps and the seasonal area. If product pictured in the planner did not come or we did not receive enough to do as the picture I had to asses the products on hand and set my own displays as needed. Using similar products that tied in to try to get at least 5 items per endcap to maximize sales. I had to monitor our sales, break times and store supplies. I would sometimes have to run the register, and air up balloons. I also answered any employee questions and customer questions. If we did not have a product at our store I would call the other locations to find it. Satisfied customers meant repeat customers and referrals which meant more sales. I also went thru all the applications and hired new employees as needed, training them myself or using my star cashier if possible. Printing and reading the store meeting each month and holding one to be sure that my staff knew the criteria covered.
