Integrated Resource Management
HUD enlisted my services as its first fellow in a pilot partnership with EDF to improve the energy management practices of Taylor Housing Commission and two other multifamily housing providers (Allen Park and Melvindale Housing Commissions) by performing utility benchmarking in Wayne County, Michigan.
I developed a business and marketing plan with proposed sales training & programs for the new company's energy recovery ventilation and radiant heating systems applied to residential buildings, resulting in approximately 38% monthly average increase in sales equivalent to about $1 Million worth of additional revenue in three months time.
I initiated a portfolio of renewable energy solutions for community developers applied to residential and commercial buildings. My involvement resulted in a signed contract worth PHP500 Million ($10 Million) worth of school development construction with solar PV applications and continued to develop the market for large-scale District Cooling Systems (DCS) resulting in projects worth approximately PHP960 Million ($19 Million).
I developed the energy services business portfolio of the company by preparing an energy audit team on building systems analysis on the technical side, and training the sales and marketing on the business development side, resulting in the company's first guaranteed savings EPC agreement worth approximately PHP120 Million ($2 Million) within six months.
I partly influenced the Sustainable Energy Finance (SEF) program in the Philippines through the inception of ESCO and EPC concepts. The SEF program built up the resource capacity of local partner banks to manage a portfolio of financial instruments, resulting in the development of innovative energy efficiency and renewable energy (mostly solar and biomass) project financing with an aggregated loan portfolio reaching up to PHP 60 Billion ($1.2 Billion) as of 2013. In addition, I;.
The SEF program in the Philippines became the model of IFC around the world.
I coordinated the development of the book, "World ESCO Outlook" that became available in 2013. Specifically, I;.
I was one of the pioneer employees of the newly set up DANFOSS subsidiary in the Philippines where I developed the market niche of VFDs applied to heating, ventilation, and air condition (HVAC) pumps and fans. Leveraging on my mechanical engineering skills, I was able to conduct training and orientations to engineering designers on VFD applications for HVAC systems enabling system designers to specify DANFOSS on VFD requirements at all times willingly. I also intensively promoted energy efficiency with the use of VFDs, to key stakeholders such as building owners, developers, project management companies, general contractors and trade allies like chiller, cooling tower, AHU, and building management system (BMS) suppliers. DANFOSS captured approximately 95% of the HVAC market share as a result of the thorough marketing campaign.
I am a pioneering energy efficiency staff of the DSM Office of the largest private electric utility in the Philippines. Applying integrated resource planning into a process, I designed energy management programs for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Specifically, the "Green Malls" program I initiated for shopping complexes became the essential reference for many retrofit projects when the ESCO industry started to develop a few years after.
