I attended Black Hawk College and Scott Community College for a total of seven years to obtain two A.A Degrees. The first degree is in Liberal Arts majoring in Elementary Education, and the second in the Interpreting Training Program. I worked with children for 4 months as part of my schooling. I have been working as an Interpreter/Para-Professional for over 13 years I worked in the Davenport School District for four years and the Moline School District for 11 years. I also worked with the Focus program in a Davenport Elementary School. I am a very patient person and am eager and willing to try new things. I am a CODA which stands for Children Of Deaf Adults. I starting learning Sign Language at the age of three. Upon graduating from Scott Community College, I completed the "ISAS" written test and completed the performance test for transliteration and passed. I took the E.I.P.A. (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment for the first time in November 2008. In order to pass you must receive a score of 3.5 or above. I am very happy to say that I received a score of 3.6 in February of 2009.
I facilitated communication between the student and their teacher and other peers in their classroom. I taught different groups of kids perform the duties at hand. I participated with students as well as at recess. I also made sure the kids were picked up after school.
I performed office duties such as taking in payments and posting them,and helped members attain the tourbooks and maps for their trip. I also routed specific routes on the map for members and suggested hotels along the way. We always use our construction guide to make sure we give the best way to travel. Again I really like to interact with people and with kids.
I worked in many departments within the store including housewares, customer service and front end cashier. I really like to interact with the customers. I feel that I am real people person.
