  • Project Manager for the NIIAD biobanking program of Flu Viral HA and NA segments.  Set timelines for synthesis of these antigenic viral segments, sequencing, and delivery of over 2500 separate sets for researchers to use.
  • Project Manager for the de novo sequencing of the Atlantic Salmon and Conus Consors (cone snail) for two international sequencing projects.  Set up the timelines and mile markers for sequencing, assembly and delivery of data to the international consortiums.
  • Project Manager for the automation of the Core Sequencing Lab at JCVI.  Was responsible for the development of timelines and milestones during this transformation.  Worked with outside vendors to obtain reagents and competitive pricing.

  • Developed  methods for using Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) to purify oligonucleotides and assess their purity before entering the chromosome assembly process. 
  • Preformed  Sanger sequencing and data analysis in order to identify and confirm correctly assembled 5 Kb cassettes of the Mycoplasma genetalium chromosome (ABI3100 and ABI3730 sequencers).
  • Used recombination to join correctly assembled 5Kb cassettes into 10, 20, and 40 Kb segments.
  • Used molecular biology techniques to attempt to remove Type II restriction enzyme encoding sequences from the Mycoplasma genetalium chromosome.
  • Led a small group (2 junior lab members) in DNA extraction and library construction from organisms collected on filters during a survey of the world's oceans.
