The project aim is to review the patient characteristics, transport characteristics, and outcome patterns for patients who were transported on ECMO via Duke Life Flight to Duke University Hospital. Study: Replant Air vs. Ground Transfer
An Analysis of Transferred Replant Candidates for Microsurgical Emergencies Involving the Upper Limb
DUH IRB Pro00085082
PI: Dr. Fraser Leversedge, MD
Key Investigators & Personnel: Chloe Hallberg, Maria Manson, Rita Baumgartner et al
Patients with upper extremity limb-threatening emergencies often require time-sensitive transfers to facilities providing microsurgical services. Our aim is to assess retrospectively patient outcomes, mode, cost and time of transportation, and time to treatment for all patients transferred to a level 1 trauma center for microsurgical emergencies involving the upper extremity. We hypothesize that there is a distance threshold at which outcomes and financial efficacy may be improved by air transfer (vs ground transfer) for microsurgical emergencies involving the upper limb.
