During my periods of employment at my various jobs, I have developed an excellent work ethic. My first job was working as a detasseler, which taught me to be a steady worker and to work under strenuous conditions. Throughout my working career, I have built an even deeper work ethic and have become a dedicated hard worker. My most recent job was working as a sales associate for Kmart in Pekin. This was my favorite job that I have ever had, because I loved helping and aiding customers in their shopping experience. There is nothing more rewarding than the feeling an employee can get when working in retail and receiving the thanks and appreciation of a customer. I enjoyed working in retail also because there are always tasks to be done. If I wasn't helping a customer, I was straightening and facing products on the shelves or bringing carts back inside from the parking lot. I really enjoyed staying busy and having a steady work environment.
I worked at Kmart for about six to seven months, and in that short amount of time, I managed to win Associate of the Month for the month of June. I was elected Associate of the Month by my fellow co-workers who thought that I exhibited excellent customer service. I appreciated that my co-workers thought that I deserved this honor. I always tried to have a good and friendly relationship with all of my fellow co-workers at Kmart.
I was part of a work crew that detasseled seed corn.
I worked as a laborer for Janice Lee who sold plants and landscaping decorations. I sold, watered, and maintained the plant inventory.
I worked as a gas pump attendant and cashier at a full-service gas station. I would fill vehicles with fuel, wash car windows, check tire pressure, check oil level, etc. In this job, I had very high customer exposure and I enjoyed the aspect of the job which was dealing with and serving customers.
I was a laborer for the Village of Morton. I worked on a crew that did excavation and pipe-fitting. My work crew would install new water and natural gas mains and the services that would go into homes and buildings. We dealt with public relations as well. We communicated with homeowners and business owners in regards to their water and natural gas for heat.
I worked as a sales associate for Kmart in Pekin. I worked on the hardlines side of the store. My daily duties would be to do returns and damages, stock shelves, straighten and face products on shelves, bring in carts from the parking lot, checking customers out on the registers, and help customers with their questions and enhance their shopping experience.
