Communicate with employees, faculty, administrators, contractors, vendors and others as necessary regarding the activities of custodial operations; confer with school administrators and staff to obtain scheduling information regarding special events.
Monitor, receive and store custodial supplies and equipment; maintain budgetary records and files related to purchase and work orders.
Respond to incidents of vandalism, burglary, fire and other emergencies at district sites; respond to emergency incidents on an on-call basis as needed.
Attend meetings, in-services and seminars as required.
Perform general custodial activities at an assigned school site or other assigned District facility; sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets.
Clean classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices and other facilities as assigned; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; empty waste receptacles spot mop spills; remove gum, debris and graffiti as needed.
Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets and urinals; fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items; clean mirrors, tile and windows.
Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways and areas adjacent to school facilities; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to school building.
Replace light bulbs and tubes, clean chalkboards, white boards and erasers; empty pencil sharpeners; clean tables, chairs and floors.
Lock and unlock doors and gates as appropriate; maintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines; set alarms as appropriate.
Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned
Prepare classrooms, gymnasiums and other facilities for special events or meetings; set-up and assemble chairs, tables and other furniture and equipment for special events and activities; clean up furniture, equipment and debris following these events.
Communicate with site administrators and personnel as assigned by the position to exchange information and coordinate activities.
Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; report need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority.

Initial Qualifications:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Six months experience performing custodial work.
