Hello and thank you for taking the time out to consider me for this job opportunity. My name is William Cooke and I am applying to be an entry level technician. I have attended Lincoln Technical Institute for Automotive Technology from May of 2013 to May 2014 and successfully completed the program with an internship at Paramus Chevrolet once school was over. I have been a technician there ever since. I had earned honors and perfect attendance in: gas engines, electrical systems, air conditioning and accessories, automatic transmissions, fuels and emissions, engine performance, manual transmissions and drivelines, advanced electronics, brake systems, and steering and suspension.
In addition to schooling, I was a tire/battery installer at Sears Auto Center from August of 2013 to May 2014 and have expanded my knowledge of the automotive industry greatly. My services were, but not limited to; battery installation, charging system testing, wheel alignments, tire installation, oil changes, coolant service, fuel system cleaning, wheel balancing, flat repairs, and multi point inspections. Working there has been an educational experience and was a nice way to transition into this industry. Once I moved on to Paramus Chevrolet from May 2014 to present I have increased my knowledge to trouble light diagnostics, fuel system diagnostics, suspension work, interior and exterior trim work, recall and warranty work, and just about everything in between. I was mentored for the first month and have worked on my own since. I love the job itself but the work environment and management is not up to where I feel comfortable.
As for my personal attributes, I am very reliable, always on time, a good listener, always eager to learn, and ambitious. In the shop environment I keep my area clean while working efficiently in a individual or group setting. I try my hardest to be the technician that customers want to have service their vehicle rather than just another worker. This career choice has appeared to be the right one and my goal is to expand and better my knowledge of these vehicles so I can be the most efficient technician possible.
Eagle Scout- February 2012
I have been active in my towns Boy Scout troop since 2005 where I earned the rank of Eagle Scout and continue to give
back as an Assistant Scoutmaster. Scouting has taught me to work with what I have, how to lead and work under pressure. Over 50 service hours and a community-benefiting project made my experience something I will always cherish.
Lincoln Technical Institute Director's List
In most of my classes at LTI I made the Director's list which requires perfect attendance, a 4.0 GPA, and a personal recommendation from the instructor. I received this honor in: electrical systems, air conditioning, engine performance, brake systems, steering and suspension, and intro to automotive technology.
Sears Technician Excellence
During my fifth month at Sears Auto Center I was notified that, based off quality customer service and vehicles serviced per day, I ranked seventh in northern New Jersey. It was a great feeling to be acknowledged for the work I do and to be ranked that highly with full-time and part-time employees. I am only a part-time worker at Sears so, according to management, being that high of a number on the list was something to be proud of.
Passed with high honors and perfect attendance. I also went through the internship program which has brought me to where I am today.
Montclair State University - Montclair, NJ for two semesters I attended Montclair State University as an English major but I soon realized it was not the path I wanted to take so, after the last semester, I started schooling at Lincoln Tech less than a month later. Automotive Technology, May 2013 Lincoln Technical Institute - Mahwah, NJ. It didn't take long after starting this school that I knew this is the career path for me and so I gathered every lesson and tip possible to make the most out of the experience there. Thank you very much for this opportunity and looking through my resume. I hope my qualifications are what you are looking for in the position and I look forward to advancing and learning as much as I can while I can. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me and I will try to the best of my ability to resolve the issue at hand.
