What I gained from this experience was a bond with every resident, listening to their stories of their youth and experiences through life which really enlightened me and taught me a lot about life, mistakes, growing up, and family, friend, and school situations. My participation really helped me be more careful in dealing with people, their feelings, and their needs. I learned responsibility in a way where I must out someone else's needs before my own. Leadership International Business Awareness Club My sisters club, the International Business Awareness Club (IBAC) stands for an opportunity to encourage members to engage in and share their ideas about what they think a business should represent, promote discussions regarding the functions and priorities of specific businesses, and team communication. I was the Secretary of IBAC and my responsibilities were to aid at the monthly meetings, attend all club meetings, and to help set up a table for IBAC on Club Rush days. My position has made me more controlled over my time and responsibilities. When I was Secretary of IBAC, it taught me how to be on time to the club meetings and how to help my sister during the Club Rush days, which will aid me in my future leadership opportunities. So far being Secretary has made me more passionate about running my own business, such as my own law firm to be able to control everything on my own. Communication My experiences in volunteering and my internship have led me to be more aware of how a work environment should function, how everyone must coincide in order to succeed, and the proper ways to speak with others.
I interned at my mom's friend's real estate office.
I was the office manager assistant at Realone Corp.
Real Estate Office.
I was responsible for filing client information, revising and reviewing the listing boards, entering information into databases, assisting with appraising and financing, and was able to experience property tours and site visits.
I devoted one year, my junior year of high school into this internship.
I evolved into a leader because of my work in a way that made me more mature, independent, and more focused.
I became more mature in a way that I took responsibility for my mistakes and actions.
I became more independent in the sense that I could rely on myself and my abilities, I did not have mommy to help me.
I became more focused because everything was time oriented, I had to arrive on time to the office, and have all my duties for the day completed on time.
This experience helped mold my character and enhance my life by being more sophisticated, attaining better communication skills, and being able to see and learn the business relationships between the employees and clients.
It has led me to be more passionate about being a part of a working environment.
I volunteered at the Malaga Cove Costume Closet that is right down my street.
At the Costume Closet you can rent clothes, costumes, and accessories for whatever event you are in need for such as Halloween or a school project.
I started volunteering at the beginning of my sophomore year with my sister and continued on to the beginning/middle of my junior year volunteering alone.
I devoted ninety hours at the costume closet.
I would volunteer once a week on certain weeks where I would receive an email stating that it was in need of more help or when I was not too busy for about two hours a week.
My duties would be to organize the clothes in alphabetical order of the letters and numbers that were posted on the tags that is on the clothes, collect the items that were rented from the customers, file the return papers in the returns bin, give back the customer's deposit check and their receipt, note if there were any damages, stains, and/or rips on the clothing, return the clothes in the dressing rooms to their designated areas, organize the wigs and masks bins, organize the drawers that contained the accessories such as jewelry, socks, hats, etc.
and I would answer calls if no one else was able to.
From this experience I learned how to be well organized and neat, on time, and how to communicate with customers and my colleagues.
My participation helped me grow as a person in the way that I am more open minded about job preferences and that I am comfortable in a working environment.
11/2013 － 04/2014All Pro Management Care Inc － Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
I volunteered at All Pro Management care Inc.
It is an organization that provides a home, care, and comfort for the elderly.
I devoted around ninety hours during my sophomore and junior years into this opportunity.
I would work once to twice a week for 2-3 hours, depending on if the office needed more assistance.
I would not work every week, but selected weeks where I was less busy or when the office needed more help.
I participated in serving the elders in whatever they needed such as food or drinks, entertainment; such as watching television, reading to them, or listening to music with them.
I helped tidy their rooms such as making their beds and organizing their belongings.
I also helped setting the table for meals.
