Hello my name is Paul Przybylski. I currently live in Valparaiso Indiana. I graduated college with a BA. I am seeking employment in a Supervisory (prefered) or entry level position at a residential treatment facility for struggling children/teen's. I am planning on moving to the area of which I get hired wherever that may be. I am 34 years old and most of my work experience has been in construction. However I was a ward of the state from the age of 14 through 17. I was in a residential treatment facility for struggling teenagers. Ever since leaving the facility I had dreamed of returning and giving back to the community. I am seeking employment as a supervisor because I feel my experience with the entire system would allow me to not only benefit the children there, but also the staff and community as a whole. I learned just about every part of the way in which a treatment facility works, including treatment plans, staff interaction, public relations, and administration. I feel the best suited individuals to benefit the children/teens is someone who has been in their shoes, and can not only relate, but see right through manipulative behavior and teach better ways. that situations eyes". I understand rebelling against authority and also the feeling that things are unfair. I have learned myself to overcome these things and adapt to the ways in which things need to be. I also understand very well that it is hard for a child or teen to see a "light at the end of the tunnel" when they have no one to relate to and are scarred. Some people do not have anybody back at home that is or was beneficial to them and that can be the hardest thing for them to see through and overcome. My experience while in a Facility myself included learning how staff and administration both operated, learning about treatment plans and coordination daily curriculum with the therapist/counselor. I knew the unit supervisor VERY well where I was at and am quite aware and comfortable with all the responsibilities that entailed. The reward/punishment system in place there as well as things like "thinking error worksheets" were just a small part of how the whole system operated. Transportation was an important factor due to outings, and the fact that allot of us went to a public school after working our way up from a locked unit, to a campus style living situation, and then finally a group home setting. I have been a part of all four levels of the juvenile correction process.

I worked in the homes of several handicapped youth who were in need of care while parents/caregivers were away. I took them to do daily activities and also supervised them in daily routines.

I also feel I would benefit your establishment because I am an AVID Christian. In my spare time I try not to watch garbage on T.V. but instead watch videos on you-tube about history, theology, and most importantly the word of God. I feel it is important to try to help kids/teens establish a spiritual foundation early on which they can then build on.I struggled with the first part of my life battling worldly desires and unfortunate circumstances, and feel that experience is best suited to give back the help I received. I have not been convicted of any serious crimes, however I struggled in my teens and early twenties with partying and received a number of minor consumption convictions and two D.U.I.s. That part of my life however was over quickly especially when I gave myself over to God and have not partook in anything since. Many years ago I rid everyone in my life that could not help me stay focused on the important things, and decided to quit construction and go to School so I could work in the Career I know I am built for, and best at. I am a no nonsense straight forward individual. I can be a little bit headstrong and opinionated, but I feel that is indeed needed in this sort of work. It is hard for people to manipulate me or pull the wool over my eyes because while part of the system I learned it all. I do however have quite a bit more understanding and compassion due to it. Let's face it. It is hard for children in a situation that they feel alone and helpless to open up and relate to people they feel "just have a plaque on the wall, or are there for a paycheck". They like to and do relate to those they not only feel "look like them, but also whom they feel can relate to their current predicament." I do feel that I have a keen and often rare ability to "see the world through someone in a situation where it is hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel".
