In this role I assist with facilitating both patient and surgeons needs by initiating and scheduling surgical procedures working directly with multiple physician offices and staff to coordinate care. Responsible for surgeon and clinical team communications as well as direct patient communication to plan and complete all appropriate appointments based on medical history within date restrictions to ensure clearances are received in a timely manner in-order for surgery to proceed. I schedule surgeries with the OR department, notify surgery sales and equipment reps of cases upcoming and verify insurance authorizations, obtain clearances documents and medical approvals and document patient charts in the EMR system.
In this patient care specialist role my accountability was in all areas of patient registration. Appointment scheduling, phones, medical record maintenance, payment collection, processing mail, faxing, obtaining and verifying authorizations for services prior to appointments, knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT codes and maintaining efficient, professional and courteous service while building relationships with both internal and external customers and interacted with all necessary partners throughout the establishment including physicians, nursing staff, technicians and medical assistants while adhering to the HIPPA guidelines at all times according to company policy.

Responsible for hospital referral, office visits and procedure authorizations using CPT and ICD 9 / ICD 10 codes to ensure patient coverage and facility and provider payment. I also assisted senior administrative professionals with daily work tasks and answered inquires and addressed, resolved escalated issues to management personnel to ensure customer satisfaction..
