During my work day at R Club I look after children before and after school. While parents get their daily task done. Whether it being work, school, etc. In the morning we typically complete play area opening duties, such as components. I walk the floor and physically and verbally interact with these children throughout the day in order to get to know them, while also gaining a teacher-student relationship. This involves using clear communication and professionalism in order to develop a constructive relationship. We clean up about 45 minutes prior to school so the children can get a healthy nutritious breakfast to accommodate their day and learning techniques. In the afternoons we check each child in prior to eating dinner, then go outside to play. This requires me to fill out a transition log every time we transition from one area to another. In order to carefully supervise up to 20 Pre-K-1st grade children in the play area for an hour. We use the first 5 minutes to exercise our bodies so we're well stretched out to enjoy play-time. Then I clearly communicate to children in a developmentally appropriate way to review playground rules and expectations. On the playground we make sure to maintain a safe, clean and constantly supervised play environment. Sometimes I have to enforce disciplinary limits to create a structured environment conducive to learning. Children who display bad behavior are given a 5 minute chill out session or redirected to another play area. After the hour we have classroom time which I use the first 10 minutes to gather my group and read-aloud and play alphabet games to promote early literacy. I encourage curiosity, exploration and problem-solving with age-appropriate playtime activities. Such as eye-spy, name the letter, building blocks, spelling games, etc. Some children may require more attention which gives me the opportunity to supported the child emotionally and socially helping them development and gain student-teacher communication with one-on-one attention. We typically have about a 20 minute class-room session, then we line up to go inside for snack. Where the day is concluded with the quiet carpet and a movie.
I attended Lakewood High School my freshman and sophmore year and moved my Junior year where I started to attend Dixie, I graduated 2013. My freshmen and sophomore year where typical. Once I got to my Junior and Senior years I started to slack off a little bit and loose focus. I became a bit discouraged but as I regained my focus, I stuck with the core courses I needed to maintain my GPA and overcome the necessary requirements to graduate with my class. Without the extra load. However I am ecstatic to say I passed my College Readiness class with a 108 and I'm very optimistic to be a future College Student continuing education in Business/Teaching.
