Picker and packer: Resume Example

Picker/packer jobs are commonly performed in a warehouse environment or at a distribution center, wherever companies hold inventory before shipment to retailers or consumers. A picker and packer performs duties that generally center around pulling inventory for orders, preparing shipments, and prepping merchandise for shipping.

There are no formal education requirements for picker and packers but past job experience is helpful to highlight in a resume. Experience working with (or alongside) machinery that assists in the picking and packing process – such as a forklift or robot – is also important to mention.

Soft skills, such as being detail oriented and having the ability to multitask, are great to mention on a machine operator resume as well.

Assembler: Resume Example

Assemblers and fabricators construct finished products and the parts that comprise them. They use tools, machines, and their hands to make engines, computers, aircraft, ships, boats, toys, electronic devices, control panels, and more.

Most assemblers and fabricators work in manufacturing plants. Some of the work may involve lengthy periods of standing or sitting. Most work full-time, and they sometimes work evenings and weekends.

The education level and qualifications needed to enter these jobs vary depending on the industry and employer. Although a high school diploma satisfies in most instances, experience and additional training are desired for more advanced assembly work.

Forklift Operator: Resume Example

Forklift operators are responsible for operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle. Forklift operators may also be required to inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment and to comply with OSHA and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) Standards.

Operators must undergo training in OSHA standards through formal and practical training must be provided. Forklift operators are also evaluated annually. Mentioning training and certifications in a forklift operator resume is crucial.

Some skilled forklift operators compete in obstacle and timed challenges at regional forklift rodeos. Those who have competed should mention these competitions on their resume, particularly if they have won prizes for their skills.

General labor: Resume Example

General laborers do a variety of tasks for their clients including fixing and maintaining machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings, and painting, repair flooring, and work on plumbing, electrical, and air-conditioning and heating systems.

Often, general laborers work for a variety of clients, often carrying out many different tasks in a single day. Other general laborers work doing maintenance of buildings, such as those in an apartment complex or on a school campus. Mentioning past work experience in any of these scenarios is necessary for an excellent general laborer resume.

Jobs in this occupation don’t usually require any formal education but mentioning specialized training or experience can be a plus. Having a proficiency in other languages can be a useful skill in this profession and citing soft skills like good communication skills can be a plus as well.

Inventory Manager: Resume Example

An inventory manager is in charge of inventory in a warehouse or similar facility. Inventory managers lead a team of inventory or warehouse workers to receive and record new stock as it comes in and move stock as needed.

While there are no formal education requirements for becoming an inventory manager, past work experience is valued so be sure to mention your relevant experience on a resume. Since some inventory managers may be required to use forklifts or other equipment, also be sure to mention any special skills and training you might have.

Computer skills may also help you get ahead as an inventory manager, so be sure to mention those when writing your resume.

Machine operator: Resume Example

A machine operator is a person whose job entails maintaining, controlling, and operating machines and equipment. These machines are then used in the manufacturing of other items. Machine operators operate sophisticated machines by managing their settings and conducting tests on the machines to ensure safety and successful operation in the production process.

A machine operator’s resume should include some or all of the following, depending on experience: ability handling heavy equipment, the ability to read and understand technical manuals and a solid understanding of mechanical devices.
