For someone applying for an administrative assistant position, a great opening sentence for a summary statement would be, "Administrative assistance with over five years’ experience working in a high-pressure corporate environment." This sentence accomplishes several things. It makes it clear what background the jobseeker has as well as the level of experience.
Once you introduce yourself, you want to list out several competencies you possess that would be most helpful to the position. Do not wait until the skill set and work history sections to mention your qualifications because the hiring manager may not get to that point. Ultimately, the summary statement only needs to be three or four sentences long.
