  • I design, plan, schedule, conduct annual plannings and dispatch pupil transportation services. I develop routes, perform mileage checks, determine the safest, shortest routes and appropriate pick-up places, qualify students, and modify the bus schedules as needed. I assist in daily dispatch when necessary.
  • I supervise 75 Bus Drivers, 26 Bus Attendants, 2 Driver Instructors, 3 Specialists (office workers), 1 Route Planner, 1 Accountant Assistant, 9 Mechanics, and 2 Equipment Service Workers for a total of 119 employees. I confer and problem solve with other administration personnel, site personnel, the public, vendors, and many other entities. I assume responsibility for a variety of personnel actions including participating in the selection, hiring, termination, and training of employees. I have used the FRISK model numerous times during discipline procedures. I have presented many training's, meetings, and in-service hours.
  • I have coordinated implementation of new systems, such as Zonar, Seon, and TransTrak for field trips. Before TransTrak, I improved the current field trip system which was all manual.
  • I designed and implemented the "New Hire Handbook" for the Transportation Department. I updated and improved the "Transportation Employee Handbook."
  • I am currently working with the Carb Clean Mobility in Schools program, CTE, Sage, and the Energy Education Specialist of SUSD to have a community outreach program regarding our new electric buses that have been added to the fleet.
  • I work with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), California Department of Education (CDE), Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and Department of Transportation (DOT). I must ensure the Department stays in compliance with all the laws, rules, and regulations governing school transportation.
  • I provide administration assistance in personnel safety issues, investigate accidents, take pictures, gather information, write reports, and maintain work performance safety standards, public relations, and other operational concerns.
  • I negotiate between the unions (CSEA 821 & 885) and management. I make work schedules and assignments based on contractual bidding procedures, post routes, and oversee the bidding process. All while making sure to not violate contract language, with the three different unions in the department.
  • I am in charge of the District's vendor, First Student. I negotiate the routes, how they are managed and let them know SUSD's expectations.

  • I developed designed, analyzed, revised, updated, and implemented transportation routes and schedules for safety and maximum operating efficiency. Planned, designed, implemented, and maintained and operated geographical information systems related to relational data-based and student transportation software applications.
  • Periodically reviewed GPS activity and developed reports including idling, location, speed, schedule, etc. I also provided technical assistance and collected, formatted, combined, scrubbed District student information.

  • Performed data input, output and maintenance of data base files, students, boundary, school location, bell time, drivers stops, runs and route driver directions while using VersaTrans.
  • My job function was to plan all the routes, was responsible for all the student information in the routing programs, and had to maintain, edit, trouble shoot all the software systems we accessed (which was VersaTrans, Synergy, Zonar, and Trapeze). I delegated work to the specialists that was appropriate for their class.

  • I was a substitute School Bus Driver Specialist. I worked in the office at all three of the desks. Each desk had a different purpose, they are main dispatcher, router, and field trip desk.
