Substitute Teacher's Aide Upper St. Clair School District City, STATE,

As a substitute teacher's aide, my main responsibilities consist of assisting students who learn best in a classroom where life-skills are most significant. I get the opportunity to aide the students in learning skills that will continuously benefit them in their everyday lives. I provide emotional and cognitive support while students practice newly learned skills and I try to help them connect with their curriculum effectively and efficiently given the daily challenges of their lives. When providing emotional support, I gravitate towards carrying out the philosophy that developing connection and keeping consistency is one of the best approaches for making students' lives more manageable. Some techniques that I engage in to positively reinforce students in a learning environment are as follows but not limited to: deescalation through redirection, scaffolding, active learning, verbal cues such as reminders to help prevent confusion/frustration, visual cues such as a smile, making sure my arms are not crossed (approachable body language), direct eye contact especially when speaking, promoting the use of words when expressing thoughts and feelings to prevent behaviors that are not goal behaviors. I also make sure to get to know my students with simple conversation about likes and dislikes, who is important to them in daily life, what activities they enjoy, etc. in order to build a connection to hopefully promote a sense of self and comfort while learning.

I have worked with students grades k-12 at the 6 different schools throughout the district.

Part-time Nanny The Hassan Family City, STATE,

As a part-time Nanny for the Hassan residence, I worked with the full-time nanny to provide a safe and positive environment for the 3 children and dog whom we both cared for. During my time with the Hassan Family, I provided safe transportation to extracurricular activities, assisted in interactive play, helped bathe, dress and brushed teeth for the youngest child, while prompting the 2 older children to tend to personal care routines before and after school. I encouraged school work to be done in a timely manner and promoted the overall significance of education and strong values during the time I spent there. I implemented the values of both parents into the daily routine to the best of my ability. When adversities were presented, communication and acknowledgement amongst both parties took place to better run the household. I was also responsible for occasional meal prep and feeding the children before school and most meals after school. I cleaned the kitchen and tidied rooms, put away dishes, did the kids' laundry, folded it and put it away. I was responsible for taking the dog outside, pool-time supervision with the children, and home-work help. During the challenging time of COVID, home school was also a necessary part of my job, making sure the kids were washing their hands and spraying their shoes with disinfectant, etc. During both of my employers' time spent working in an ICU as doctors, it was expected of both nannies to work extra hours and sometimes overtime in one particular week out of the month during a specified rotation. We both made sure that the children were always well cared for and the #1 priority when their parents were not present.

Even though I no longer provide consistent services for this family, I still keep in touch with them; I still provide occasional baby-sitting services and have attended a one weekend skii trip to help take care of their children and neighbors' children while they had outings during their stay.

During my time with the Walker Family, I mainly assisted the family's adult daughter with emotional support, approval and affirmation, decision making and cleaning. In addition, some of my other duties included meal prep & cooking, grocery shopping, errands, fast food runs, cleaning the home, vacuuming and cleaning dishes.
