I will be receiving a Bachelors of Science degree with a dual major in Special Education (K-8th Grade) and Early Childhood (PreK-4th Grade) in May of 2015 from East Stroudsburg University, PA. At East Stroudsburg University, the Education Department provides education majors to be placed in select Professional Development Schools (PDS) from Scranton, PA to Phillipsburg, NJ, and the opportunity to work alongside certified teachers for a total of two years as well as accumulating over 400 classroom hours since 2009. I am a talented early education professional with diverse experience in planning and implementing various activities for promoting physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth of children.I am successful at managing large classrooms of young children. I am a patient educator who collaborates successfully with children, parents and staff.

Accomplishments

1. Over 400 hours of hours with students from a variety of classrooms since 2009.


2. I hold a substitute certification within the State of New Jersey since November of 2013 where I have worked over 200 hours in classrooms from Kindergarten to Life Skills.


3. Since January 15, 2015 I have a Certificate of Completion in Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse that has provided me with more knowledge in being able to speak to children and listen intently.


4. Received the Senior Honors Award in April of 2014 as a Junior at East Stroudsburg University.

Additional Information
  • Best Buddies (August 2012-May 2013) This organization works with the surrounding community to build relationships with people who have a physical/mental disability. Every year there is a Best Buddy walk as well as holiday parties, dances, and community events such as bowling, dinners, and baking activities. I was fortunate to be given a buddy where I worked with her and her family for a year.
  • STAR Program (May 2014-August 2014) This summer program gives a select 100 students who have the opportunity to be incoming freshman at East Stroudsburg University if they complete a rigorous 6 week program in the summer successfully completing their first 7 credits. Here I was a mentor for a group of 8 students where I was to log hours that I worked with each student and I motivated them to complete the program. I am proud to say all 8 of my students successfully completed the program and are currently enrolled as freshman at the university.
  • Homework Club Tutor (September 2014-Present) As of the start of this year I am a homework tutor for an after school program at Lincoln Elementary School where I assist students with academic related questions from 3:30-5 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. Each day I have two to three students that I work with in the library of the school where we address concerns students face relating to content they are learning that could benefit them as they work through their homework for the night.
  • 5th Grade Math Intervention (January 2015-Present) I currently have a position alongside Homework Club Tutor to be a tutor for 5th grade students who need help in math after school three times a week. The purpose of this program is to raise student grades each quarter as well as their confidence with math concepts.
