Each morning I am assigned a different role. Some days I am responsible for carrying out the teachers plans for the day and on other days I am assigned to specific children that require adapted work or that have other special needs.
As a nanny, I partnered with the family to facilitate growth and development in their daughter. I provided materials to engage her in learning content and skills that she will need for preschool and kindergarten. I also encouraged skills in communication and self regulation.
I worked at both of these businesses in an instructor role. At Romp N Roll, I was an instructor for children ages 2-5. I taught educational gym and art classes. This program was designed to foster growth in social interactions, physical skills, and cognitive skills through play.
At Dance Tech, I collaborated with several other instructors for ages 3-6. Our goal was to lead these classes effectively to make sure the children get the most of the lessons as well as getting individualized attention and help from all instructors.
In this role, I guided customers to help find the products that were best suited to them. I also kept record of daily sales and set goals for myself. Part of this job was taking initiative to continue learning about the brand and products through online courses and quizzes. This allowed me to be able to educate customers about new or different products that would help them achieve their goals. This job helped hone my skills in customer service.
Teaching at the YMCA during the summers included supporting the children and their needs and planning fun, yet educational activities to prevent summer learning loss. In addition, I was responsible for supervising outdoor activities and field trips. In this position, I learned a great deal about classroom management and communicating effectively with guardians. I chose teaching as my career as a result of the relationships I built with the children and their guardians.
