- Assessing the behavioral and emotional needs of students using formal and informal testing instruments.
- Conducting observations of students in classroom and non-classroom settings, review records, interview parents, consult with parents and school personnel, administer assessments and interpret diagnostic findings.
- Counseling students whose behavior, school progress, or mental or physical handicap or condition indicates need for assistance.
- Leading group sessions to enhance social and emotional development of students and provide peer support.
- Consulting with parents, teachers, and other staff to determine causes of problems and effect solutions.
- Meeting regularly with Teachers, Teacher Assistants and other specialists to discuss individual student's modifications or adaptations, ongoing learning issues, interventions or problems. Working collaboratively to ensure individual student's needs are met.
- Actively participate on problem solving and intervention teams to facilitate early involvement and resolution to learning or behavioral problems.
- Serving as liaison between student, home, school, and community resources referring families to available services.
- Completing required documentation such as IEP reports, goals or social development studies.
- Establishing a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as role model on appropriate behaviors ensuring social and emotional development is progressing normally.
- Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
- Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth. Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies.

- Facilitate and plan outpatient substance abuse and DUI counseling groups for adults and or adolescents.
- Assess client’s functioning within work, family and routines of daily living and identify areas that need continued support, resources and treatment in order to assist clients
- Preparation of documents and continued stayed reviews for clients after group treatments.
- Answer incoming client phone calls and assist in scheduling for intake assessments.
