I have been working in the healthcare industry for a year and half. The majority of the time was Workers' Compensation focused. I was unaware and unsuspecting that I would find so much enjoyment in Workers' Compensation. I began my career as a Registration clerk who checked patients in and verified insurance at check-in. From there, I progressed to Workers' Compensation where I was assisting with delivery of records to employers, insurance companies, and attorneys. After gaining faith and trust from the Coordinator, I began maintaining FCE and PPD appointments, records, and results. After displaying my abilities to do these tasks and check patients in at the same time, I was pulled to train in Workers' Compensation to handle all patients' care from start to finish, including creation, appointments, requesting approvals, IMEs, and PPDs. Within 3 months of working at Georgia Bone and Joint I would fill in for the Coordinator when she was absent and during WC Conferences. I was very comfortable completing these tasks and enjoyed the many aspects of Workers' Compensation.
After leaving Georgia Bone and Joint, I sought other positions in the Healthcare industry, such as pharmacy technician positions and other clerical duties. I landed a job with Greenway Health doing Medical Billing for on-site health clinics, and have been patiently waiting for something to open in the Workers' Compensation field. I truly feel, this is my calling. I love the work, the legality, the help patients require when they find themselves in the doctors' offices, and the ability to problem solve and mitigate between insurance companies and patients' needs. I desperately hope to find a company who can offer longevity and stability in a great environment where I can, hopefully, call it my workplace.
