- Remarkable ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate action.
- Solid skills in use of hand and power tools.
- Profound knowledge of appropriate safety practices.
- Uncommon ability to demonstrate physical dexterity and lift 100 pounds.
- Strong ability to perform basic mathematics (e.g., add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions, and to calculate percentages).
- Strong ability to work in high places and in confined spaces.
| - Weld metal parts or components together, using brazing, gas, or arc welding equipment.
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes and increase size of metal parts, using welding equipment.
- Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position.
- Clean or degrease parts, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
- Inspect finished workpiece for conformance to specifications.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scraper or power chipper, portable grinder, or arc-cutting equipment.
- Position work pieces and clamps together or assemble in jigs or fixtures.
- Preheat work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace.
- Ignite torch or start power supply and strike arc.
- Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.
