Summary

Ever since I was a young boy I always looked to the sky, amazed by its vastness, like the blue sea, it too was empty, and yet so full of opportunity. I have been infatuated with the idea of exploring beyond limits of what I can see, and this led me to chase the interest of engineering, as being able to see and understand nature and the workings of integral devices which come together to create something bigger. I have always thought of myself as a builder, or like a puzzle putting the pieces together to find something new.All of this and more, the meaning of being able to give and take, choosing what I could do with the things given to me in this world, that was the ultimate gift in my eyes. That was why I wanted to become a engineer, because to me a engineer was a state of being, I had dreamed off my whole life,-a carrer, a place, and a life. One I could find enjoyment in because it was about exploring, learning ,and building new ,metaphorically speaking, “bridges'' to help solve our problems,to be apart of something more, the expansion and future of humanity.

My passion extends beyond dreams however, as I exhibit not only the will I state but also I have exhibited the force to actually give mold to my dream, as growing up with my family my father would teach me things no institution could give. The lessons of a father were internally different, my father taught me how to exhibit my will, as the old saying goes “where there is a will there's a way”. Early on he gave me my first lesson into critical thinking, forcing me to think outside the box and teaching me the very basic steps to a engineer. My father worked as a private contractor working on home repairs to projects and various things for our own home, from bathrooms to windows and roofs and installing electrical outlets. To me he was my hero, a man whom seemed to know it all,my inspiration to become someone that others could depend on, that maybe one day people could look up to for help, as I did so with my father. As far as my physical exhibitations of work, and knowledge, I would have worked on various small projects, from the time I was 8 years old, I would find my fathers tools in his garage and some old furniture kit that he had put away that my parents forgot about, thats how i started out. From reading lego instructions manuals to following ikea manuels to eventually grabbing 2x4 planks and asking my dad for any extra panels of wood he had and trying to make and design my own table for my room. All this passion blossomed into something more, from liking the way I could build a tower with legos to figuring out how to draw my own ideas and bring them some life to building them in person with my own hands.I’ve worked on a lot of projects now, both by myself and with my father, I’ve helped him install a dryer and washing machine, learning how to take apart our old ones and how they worked, to installing a electrical line to our breaker so that we could power a freezer he bought, installing fans for all our rooms for when it gets hot in the summer, building closets for my room and as of lately building my cats a scratching post/tower they could play on and sleep for the night.

While all these things are rather minimal in light of a engineer, it dosen’t matter to me because just coming this far has been more than enough, to relize that I’ve been living the dream all along, building and creating things has been all I’ve ever wanted to do, for no reason but to help those whom needed it.Thats why I am where I am to day, to finilzie that dream, as a engineer im more than a builder, im a problem solver, someone people depend on, and thats where I need to identify my future. As a engineer I’ve gained acceptance at a great university, Cal state La has been kind, vigours and challenging, as new opportunities excite and enhance me.As the future holds a endless amount of possibilities for me, but for the future I see, a step is needed to be completed, the requirement of a degree while not needed , is warranted as a step to prove myself something more than just a engineer, but the credibility that a degree gives me. Which will lead me to the future I desire, a place where I can work not to just create, but work on learning how to create, and it is just the place, one day hopefully as a engineer, as working toward a mission gives me virtue, and working to help others gives me strength, and in all things being with life, i am granted not happiness from desire but happiness through will, the will I exalt. As I wish to be a person that people can come to trust or learn to trust, just as through my own ambitions so does everyone else share a dream, and it is in my dream to become someone more than just a face, I want to be a speaker for people whom cannot speak because they dont know how to respond, as I want to be able to help those in need,to be able to help solve their problems, and that is why I have chosen to become a engineer, diploma or not.
