•Provide excellent customer service to patient and co-workers
•Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs, documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, and medications).
•Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
•Ability to verify insurance coverage and perform various administrative duties, which included; charting medical information and answering telephone calls, faxing, copying and scanning documents.
•Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
•Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. May assist with clerical, reception or medical records duties.
•Administers routine medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins and topical agents.
•Provides basic patient education on the performance of routine tasks or skills.
•Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
•Interviews candidates for Medical Assistant Instructor position
•Development of new curriculum for the Medical Assistant Program as needed
•Supervise staff daily interaction and relationship with students
•Direct responsibility for student and staff development
•Direct responsibility for student retention rate and completion of program
•Monitor attendance of students as well as MA instructors
•Creates correction action plans for student and staff for improvement as needed
•Conduct instructors performance review
•Attends new student orientation and welcome them to Milwaukee Career College
•Provide excellent customer service to local employers and students of Milwaukee Career College
•The Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator ensures adequate externship sites for students in the Medical Assistant Program
•Primary duties are to maintain contact with local employers to obtain information on externship opportunities
•Attends new student orientation, Verify completion of all competencies prior to externship
•Track attendance and visit externship sites, make sure students are in compliance with MCC policies and student conducts
•As the program chair work with faculty to promote continuous improvement of the quality of instruction within the Medical Assistant program. The Program Chair is responsible for assisting with the development and design of the academic program and retention activities within the department.
