  • I started at Tesla in December 2017 as a Quality Inspector
  • My job consists of inspecting vehicles interior and exterior, checking for trim, door panels, primary seals to be properly seated
  • Exteriors consists of checking gaps, correct license plate bracket, window fits, belt moldings, and dents or paint mutilations
  • I also perform VDT (Vehicle drive Test)
  • VDT I would do test drives looking for any loose objects on the door panels, floorboards, A-pillars B-pillars
  • Also check for alignment, suspension noise or air leaks
  • In final confirmation, I would check the entire car, making sure all the interior matches the manifest, having the correct seats, door trims, decors, and trunk sills when needed
  • Exterior I would confirm the Tesla badge emblems
  • After matching the interior and exterior of the car to the manifest the vehicles are ready to go out to the customer
  • In 2019 my upper management requested us ā€œinspectorā€ to do small repairs on the line to avoid writing up defects and achieve clean direct cars
  • Once a week a small group of us were sent to trim1 and trim2 tech training where we learned to remove front, rear facias, as well as interior
  • That little bit of training gave me enough knowledge to jump from final confirmation to INS and support repairs
  • I can catch and repair my own defects and my coworkers
  • In October 2021 I switched departments to Heavy repair
  • I started in the water zone where I learned to remove the interior trims to locate water leaks
  • When finding water leaks, the windshield and roof glass had to be removed and replaced after repairing the water leaks
  • Once I was more comfortable using hand tools and removing and installed trim, I was moved to heave repair where I learned to replaced battery packs, drive units, etc
  • I learned to adjust the body fit on the doors, hood to fenders, and trunk to quarter panel
  • When the opportunity is available, I volunteer to support service centers and work costumer's cars
