Implant Specialist02/2008 to CurrentUAB/Perioperative Services
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with surgeons and team leaders, to establish and maintain inventory par levels for all owned and consigned surgical implants. Maintain the bone and tissue inventory which includes tracking entire process from receipt to implant. Ensure that all ex-plants and recall data are up to the requirements by the FDA and JCAHO. Ensure that all Human Tissue/Human products are tagged and placed in Mobile Aspects System to ensure proper tracking. Track daily usage of all implants to support replenishment of inventory, the reconciliation of patient charges and compliance with federal requirements. Manage all inventory/consignment for 7 Services in the Operating Room. Coordinate the lending/return of all implants and instruments with various areas such as surgical Team-leaders, central instrument processing, vendors, and other area hospitals.
  • Purchasing/Buyer: Enter Requisitions and place purchase orders, resolve issues with purchase orders, administer process, negotiate prices on a large scale. Perform cost analysis documentation.. Manage purchasing activities to ensure that sufficient items are on hand to meet surgery schedule. Analyze and adjust, as necessary, purchasing activities that are affected by changes in surgery schedule.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Expedite orders with suppliers to maintain scheduled deliveries, improve deliveries as needed, and resolve back order situations as applicable. Handle the shipment of all product/equipment recalls and returns.
  • Accounts Payable: Ensure that invoices are corrected and paid with each company/vendor. Troubleshoot invoice issues as required.
  • Cost Containment: Manage product rotation; addition of new/deletion of obsolete implants.
  • Administrative support and Data entry: Data entry of purchase orders, blanket/master purchase orders, economic order quantity, and change orders. Ensure that all new items are submitted to strategic sourcing for item new item adds in Lawson. Update the Inventory Database daily upon receipt and use of every item using Share-point to ensure accuracy of available inventory. Maintain temperature logs. Distribute mail and faxes
Technical Aide09/2004 to 02/2008Children's Hospital of Alabama/HEAR Center* Troubleshoot Cochlear Implant and Hearing Aid repair problems and also decide the right equipment and strategy is needed to repair the implant equipment. * Request, process, and ensure closure on all Cochlear Implant return authorizations. * Check in and prepare all new Cochlear Implant Systems by the day of initial stimulation. * Obtain and authorize all purchase orders that are made through the center. Also process all orders and receipts of ear-molds, hearing aids, and hearing aid repairs. * Responsible for accepting and handling all patient phone calls about problems, sales, etc. * Collect and process all financial billing for the weekly sales made by the Clinic. * Compile meeting minutes for the weekly meeting. * Assist Audiologist during audio logic evaluations of the young and difficult. * Maintain loaner and consignment hearing aid stock every 3 months and also provide the staff with an updated database. * Perform hearing instrument checks and verify proper function of every loaner aid returned. Also independently return stock or send them for repair.
Clinical Assistant03/2003 to 09/2004Children's Hospital

* Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms * Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient's chart * Give instructions to patients as instructed by Physician or Registered Nurse. * Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment * Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required * Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.) * Admitted patients onto the floor * Assisted Doctors and Registered Nurses when needed * Took daily vital signs and assisted patients when needed.
