Phone triage of new and established patients for problems ranging from: preventative care questions, allergies, flu symptoms, sexually transmitted infections, unknown viral infections, extremely low blood sugar and chest pain. Clinical judgment needed to asses the need for immediate intervention or referral to primary care provider. Administration of vaccines from 2 month intramuscular, to intramuscular and subcutaneous injections to geriatric patients. Administration of intramuscular medications in clinic per provider orders such as: Bicillin Penicillin, Rocephin, toradol, Depo-Provera, and B-12. Administration of subcutaneous medication such as Imitrex, varicella, and MMR. Per provider order placed: straight catheters on pediatric patients for clean catch urine lab testing, catheters on adult patients, IVs on dehydrated patients. Collaboration with the health department to report positive sexually transmitted infections and positive TB or active TB and work jointly to carry out treatment needed. Working with providers in procedures such as toenail removal, biopsies, I&D, burn debridement and dressing changes. Ability to interpret lab values and x-rays and give detailed information from provider recommendations to patients. Processed self management and education for diabetic, asthmatics, and developmentally delayed patients to improve patients self care ability.
