I started as a Corrections Officer for the Lucas County Sheriff's Office in July 2003 after I served in the United States MArine Corps from April 2000 thru July 2002. As a Corrections Officer, I was responsible for the safety of the inmates in my assigned area for that shift. I primally worked 2nd shift (1600 - 0000 hours) until I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August of 2012. I was then put in charge of 1st shift (0630 - 1430 hours). I had over 40 Officers in my care and control and up to 450 inmates under my care during my shift. I was responsible for giving the Officers their post assignments for the day, maintain all the daily paperwork, break up any fights between inmates and inmates and Officers. I was also in charge of organizing dally civilian contractors, attorneys and visitors into the Corrections Center.
