I have a minimum of 5 years experience in the health care field. My role as a Youth Care Worker is varied and involves a mix of interpersonal, administrative and advocacy work. Depending on the setting, daily duties may include: Meeting with young people to identify and discuss their problems. Providing support and advice in a one-on-one or group setting. Also teaching them a variety of social skills. I also have experience working with and transporting patients to different locations and appointments.
Child and Youth Care practice includes skills in developing relationships, assessing needs and strengths, supporting children and families in the life space, and participating in systems interventions through direct care, supervision, administration, teaching, research, consultation and advocacy. In a career as a Youth Care Worker, you have the ability to change a child's life. Youth come to the Intervention & Assessment Program for a variety of reasons – family issues, abuse, neglect, abandonment, involvement in the juvenile justice system and so on. You will guide youth behaviors and expose them to new opportunities whether it be helping with homework, cheering them on at game night.

Our daily and consistently implements approved and scheduled active treatment programs for residents to include, but not limited to: areas of, self-care, daily living, socialization, recreation, leisure, speech, community awareness, and vocational/prevocational skills, ensuring the residents safety and privacy. Provides supervision and training at worksites, working with vocational staff to maximize training and attending to residents' self-care needs as appropriate.
Follows approved individualized behavior support plans utilizing approved strategies. Follows occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy programs as prescribed.
Transports and/or escorts residents to and from activities, community trips and appointments, including emergency visits to the hospital to ensure their safety and well-being. Provides care for residents during overnight stays in hospital (until admitted), as needed, in accordance with the established treatment program.
As a Floor Tech we were responsible for the maintenance of all floor areas and for sustaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. We removed spots from carpets, perform bonnet and extraction carpet cleaning, dispose of trash and assist with hazardous waste collection. Cleaned windows and also worked the trash baler. I worked here for 4 months.
I attended Treasure Lake Job Corps where I received my diploma in 2010. While attending vocational school, my trade was Culinary Arts where I learned how to prepare different types of meals, desserts and drinks. The program was located in Indiahoma, Oklahoma.
