WOC RN service at Troy Beaumont hospital is a consult service. The WOC RN focus on skin injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and creation of care plans for patients with complex wounds, ostomies, and/or continence conditions using most recent evidence based practice.
WOC RN team at Troy Beaumont posted a national poster 2019 " Engaging Bedside Nurses in the Process of Pressure Injury Prevention" and implemented multiple interventions to prevent pressure injuries and skin tears. These interventions reduced significantly the number of the hospital acquired pressure injuries and skin tears.
The WOC RN team currently engaging three main studies: 1. Use of Thermal imaging system to identify DTI's on admission. 2. Post ileostomy surgery nutritional supplements to reduce readmission. 3. Postsurgical Rehab to reduce peri-stomal hernia.
Awards: Employee of the mont, multiple times.
