I am a hardworking, respectful, focused and caring individual that will bring support and care to patients, family and all team members. My familiarity with the hospital setting has allowed me to gain knowledge, insight and a well-rounded mindset as to what the health care field and the role of a nurse entails. I have successfully completed six clinical rotations encompassing two adult medical-surgical rotations, a mental health rotation, a population and community rotation, a Labor and Delivery rotation, and a pediatric medical-surgical rotation. I am in my final rotation undergoing my role transition at Cincinnati Children's Hospital on the Acute Care Cardiology Unit. Additionally, I hold a job in the Cardiovascular Operating Room at Cincinnati Children's Hospital through the University of Cincinnati's Nursing Co-op Program. I look forward to becoming a new graduate nurse following my NCLEX examination in Spring or early Summer of 2022.

As a UC Co-op Nursing Student in the Cardiothoracic Operating Room, I work under my nursing preceptors to perform and assist with the many responsibilities and tasks a nurse is expected to fulfill. These duties include, but are not limited to: verifying consent with patient's and families, setting up the operating room in a timely, safe, and proper manner so that there is no delay in start time for cases, communicating with surgeons, physician assistants, anesthesiologists, and other staff on the case as needed, participating in time-outs before and after surgery to ensure all information regarding the patient and the case is correct, helping set up and add to the sterile field as needed, prepping the patient's surgical site, positioning the patient for surgery, obtaining intravenous access and inserting a foley catheter prior to surgery as needed, giving medications to the field during surgery as needed, having knowledge of and utilizing the defibrillator as needed, counting supplies such as sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery to ensure patient safety, documenting all information that occurs intra-operatively, sending of lab specimens, ensuring a safe transfer after surgery to the patient's assigned room, cleaning the operating room following a case and ensuring that EVS is notified to clean the operating room, responding promptly to any schedule changes such as cancellations or add-on cases, as well as responding promptly and appropriately to any ECMO pages; ensuring that I was offering my help where it was needed and focusing on the situation at hand.
As a patient transporter, I transported patients to and from certain procedures, treatment units, appointments and other areas within the hospital in a safe and timely manner. I assisted in transferring the patient safely on beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers through use of proper patient safety knowledge and identifying the need for assistive equipment as needed for each patients' medical condition when lifting, sliding, standing, sitting, etc. I also transported and retrieved supplies to assigned areas as needed, and maintained precise logs of patient trips and immediately reported any issues with transport or malfunctioning equipment.
As a sales associate I obtained a thorough knowledge of products sold to assist customers in locating and purchasing items. I participated in helping do floor sets which involved moving heavy boxes/containers, changing display tables, and organizing the store for new products and seasonal changes. I verified prices and calculated totals using scanners and point of sale (POS) systems, processed product returns, and assisted customers with other selections. I made sure to resolve any problematic situations and to help satisfy customers through providing optimal help and advise.
As an after school care worker at St. Michael's School I would supervise children from grades kindergarten to eighth grade who needed to stay an extra few hours after classes to be picked up. Tasks included tutoring children in certain school subjects such as math and science, and monitoring and engaging in any after school activities they participated in. I responded accordingly to parent's concerns and comments, communicated well with co-workers, children and parents to bring about the best care.
