The Arizona State Prison-Yuma Complex water and wastewater treatment facilities were built in 2000 and serve an average population of 5,000 people. The 1.2 MGD water treatment facility is a direct-filtration R.O. groundwater treatment plant.
The 1.22 MGD wastewater treatment facility is an extended aeration, activated sludge plant. All Water/Wastewater Operators employed at Yuma complex are cross trained in water and wastewater treatment, with some training in maintaining the distribution and collection systems. The most experienced and qualified operators are assigned senior level positions with greater responsibilities, which include training the less experienced operators and working closely with the lead operators to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all facilities.
