Assessment of Crashworthiness of vehicles and potential injury in Frontal Crash as tested by NHTSA- FMVSS 208 & NCAP.
The project aims at identifying the capacity of the vehicle structure to absorb crash energy in frontal crash as tested by NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) using FMVSS 208(Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) and NCAP (New Cap Assessment Program).
Studied the vehicle behavior after impact for its crash pulse, energy balance, deformation, velocity profile and rigid barrier force.
Validated test results by comparing them with results available for FMVSS and NCAP with NHTSA using LS-Prepost as post-processor.
Results from both the procedures FMVSS 208 & NCAP were graphically compared to infer the general trend distinction.

Full car model of Ford Taurus 2004 was re-meshed with components of probable degree of critical rollover crash simulation and an introductory run of 1ms was simulated to confirm successful run.
Analyzed the behavior of the critical components of a car involved in quasi static roof crush as in FMVSS 216 and Dynamic drop test as in MALIBU II procedure, using LS-Dyna and Hypermesh solver package.
Simulated the first quarter of rollover crash of driver leading side consisting of a max.
Roof crush of 155 mm; checked the nature and magnitude of various forms of energies involved and monitored its level.
Formulated crush specific sensitive components For Dynamic Roof Crush, using Taguchi Array, by altering yield stress of 5 components.
Modeled a vehicle S-rail & analyzed its behavior under impact with rigid wall along with examining the relation between reaction force and time at various impact velocities.
Assessed the effect induced by strain hardening in S-rail on the reaction force.
