While working at Logan Regional Medical; I worked as a staff RN, and then worked as a shift supervisor over a medical surgical floor in which I then became the Nurse Manager over that unit for approximately 2 and a half years. I then transferred to the Women's Center at Logan Regional Medical Center, where I was trained to work all areas in that department. Due to the limited beds on our unit, we trained and worked in all the areas, which included antiparticle and postpartum, Labor and Delivery, as well as the Newborn nursery.
unfortunately due to declining patients in our area and only one physician to work and cover our L &D area, I had to look for another position outside of LRMC, in which I then began working at Pikeville Medical Center, where I continue to work in the Labor and Delivery area.
Prior to working at LRMC, I began my Nursing career at Man Appalachian Regional Hospital; in May 1989 right after Graduating in my nursing field, I worked there in multiple areas due to the small rural hospital, where I learned extensively while working Med/Surg., pediatricks, Emergency Department; and ICU. At that time in our hospital; we performed our own Respiratory treatments such as setting up croup tents for the pediatric patients; did our own nebulizer treatments as well as perform our own ABG's. In such a small hospital, I learned extensively in all areas, and feel today that I became a better nurse due to the experiences I have had. I worked at Man ARH hospital from May of 1989- June 30 2000; when the hospital was unfortunately closed.
